    George Robbins Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fitzgerald Funeral Home - Cohoes on Sep. 9, 2026.
George E. Robbins, 78, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. He was born in Little Falls on September 27, 1947, the son of the late Edward E. Robbins, Sr. and Inez Van Arsdale Robbins.
After spending his younger years growing up in Averill Park, George became a longtime resident of Cohoes, a city he truly loved and proudly called home for more than 60 years. Earlier this year, he moved to Watervliet, where he spent his final months.
George retired from Samaritan Hospital in Troy after more than 40 years in the Biomed Department. He took great pride in his work and never missed an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen about his job and how much he loved it.
George was a man who wore his heart on his sleeve. He had a way of making friends wherever he went and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He opened not only his home, but also his heart, to so many people throughout his life. He was deeply loved by many, and he gave that love freely and fiercely in return.
A lifelong sports fan, George loved his New York Mets and Buffalo Bills like no other. He made sure to watch every game he could. He also was an avid bowler for many years. He enjoyed his daily Wordle, horse racing, playing the lottery, ham radio, fishing, and, of course, going out to eat. George seemed to know where all the best places to eat were and was always happy to share his recommendations.
But more than anything, George loved spending time with the people who meant the most to him-his family and friends. Nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by the people he loved, especially his daughter, Brandy, and his grandchildren.
George truly had one of the biggest hearts anyone could have. He loved deeply, cared endlessly, and made an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. If you were ever loved by George, you knew it-and you were lucky.
George is survived by his loving daughter, Brandy White (Jerry) of Troy; his beloved dog and best friend, Bella, and his cats, Nova and Jeffy; his siblings, Tecia Auspelmyer (Gary) of Ballston Spa, Susan Mayo (Paul) of Halfmoon, Carol Robbins of Watervliet, Peggy Klippel of Cohoes, and James Robbins (Cynthia Baum) of Cohoes; and his grandchildren, Miranda Seguin (Shane), Hanna Starr (Tyler), and William White III.
He is also survived by his daughter's mother and friend, Virginia Charette; his bonus son, Todd Morton (Jessica) of Dothan, AL; his best friends, Colleen, Janice, and Karen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his siblings, Jean Langlais, Edward E. Robbins, Jr., and Ronald E. Robbins, Sr., and his son-in-law, William White, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12th at 10 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will follow in Waterford Rural Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit with George's family Friday September 11th from 4-7 p.m.
