I just received an e-mail from a ham in Missouri who has the rig, and thought I'd pass along the information, FWIW . I have no interest in the transmitter or the sale myself.

NØKO, Randy Fish, RR1 Box 265, Vanzant, Missouri 65768, Tel. 417-261-1717

He says it is presently tuned to 1985 and is in good condition.

Any idea what he is wanting for it?

Click on the link to find out for sure, but I think it's $500.

    $500 dollars is a bargain.

Wow, $500? I wish I had the real estate to put something like that around here.
My poor wife puts up with a lot but a 7 foot tall transmitter would push it over the top.
    Love your shack pictures, Billy!

Get her a big new refrigerator/freezer and say, now I'm getting myself something that is similar in size! :D

Yeah, man! One of those restaurant vaults that you can hang 2 deer in. I think the Gates still would weigh more than that stocked fridge...
She puts up with my record cutting lathe in the living room... I'm not going to push it any further!

No link, I forgot this was a personal e-mail. But here is the content of the message:

This is Randy Fish, NØKO in Vanzant, Missouri, Douglas County, Grid
EM36UV. I have enjoyed listening to you on 80m AM for sometime now and
am currently listening to you on 3.885. My reason for contacting you is
to ask your assistance. I have a Gates BC1-G that I am needing to sell
and was hoping that you might be able to put out the word to any of your
friends? When I purchased it, it was in working condition. I had to
remove most of the transformers from the deck in order to lay it down to
transport it to my location. All the tubes, transformers and removable
items are safely in my living room now. 833s are in very good
condition. Transmitter is currently on 1985khz. Whoever purchases this
will have to hook the transformers back up, everything is number coded
on the wires. I have attached a couple of pics of the transmitter taken
when I picked it up. I have more pics of the transformer deck that I
took for my information so I could rewire everything up. I am only
asking $500 for this unit as is. I hope that you will be able to help
me out as I am planning on moving from my current location out here in
the sticks to a more urban location and cannot take this with me. Thank
    you for you time.

That would be worth the drive from anywhere in the continental USA considering what you're getting.
The iron alone is worth that, plus the bottles etc.
Consider this, building one from scratch including everything would cost you much more.
Heck, the engineering is already done and for that money plus fuel and lodging, it's pretty
much go get her, reassemble and plug & play.
I drove down to San Diego to get my BC1-H a couple of years ago... in a limousine. I will post that in
    another thread. ;)
