Silent key Don Hughes – G8WPL – a long standing member of Stockport Radio Society (SRS) passed away on Tuesday evening 16 July 2019 after a long illness. Don was very helpful to me as I started my Radio Journey 3 years ago. He was knowledgeable, patient and very giving of his time. Radio was Don’s life though he was a Baker by trade and always had stories of himself and his father working DX around the world. I loved to listen to him and I will miss him greatly, as, I am sure will many who knew him. His request was to buried wearing his SRS Uniform. 73 Don May you truly Rest in Peace my friend de 2E0TWD
Don was a great person to talk to at the club, and was always happy to help others new in the hobby . he will sadly be missed at the club by all. 7.3 Don RIP
I had many chats with Don at SRS after a rocky introduction his knowledge of radio, callsigns and SRS was very interesting. Let's hope theres a radio over the rainbow for you to use RIP Don a true passionate radio ham
