For a couple weeks now the G4FON software would not connect to the internet to check for updates. Now it appears the entire www.g4fon.net website is gone. Been that was for a few days now.

Domain is ok. Probably a webhost issue.

On the gqrp club groups.io site, there's a nice posting about his contributions to amateur radio.

Ray G4FON died this summer. Howard Bernstein from the Long Island CW Club has received permission from Ray's widow to continue Ray's Legacy. LICW members are working to upgrade G4FON and make it available again.

I'm glad someone is able to pick it up again. Sad to hear of his passing, condolences.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how this might effect the LICW program in general?

This is one thing that I do not like about ham radio. We lose to many good people.

I am not sure what you are asking. LICW Instructors use G4FON and CW PLAYER when conducting classes.
