It seems like the value of the FTDX-3000 is dropping faster than most transceivers. This one is posted for sale today:

The FT-2000 has seemed to retain its value for a lot longer.
What is my FTDX-3000 going to be worth in another year? I know, it's not an investment....

Yep - fashion fades, style and quality endures.

The FTdx3000 is and was a bargain for a very high performance rig. Don't worry about its current value on the used market, it has a receiver that is beat only by a few. Just slightly lower than the 5000.

After all, when buying a rig, you should only be interested in the receiver specs because a transmitter is a transmitter but a receiver is where all the bells and whistles are.

Who cares? It's not an investment. The performance hasn't change a whit. Be proud it's paid for and you aren't in debt over it. Keep operating it until it dies. That's how you get your moneys' worth out of it. :)

Is that a pay by friends and family price ?

That's the plan, or until I give it away, like my last rig.

No, it was listed in the For Sale forum here.

I bought 4 TS-830's with lots of options for far less and then added more filters and still didnt hit $1500

Three are used for VHF to microwave transverters and the other on the amp repair bench where amp problems wont blow it up.

Im still waiting for SDR's to become contesters mainstream which means they will be superb for daily use.

Why would you pay $1550 when you can buy a new one shipped for less than $2000 shipped right now? I know you save about $500, IMO -I'd rather pay the extra $ for a newer radio with a warranty.

Ham radio is a unique hobby. Most other hobbies I have been involved in, except shooting, the stuff resales for much less than what you pay new. If you ever get into photography or scuba diving, buy the stuff used and save a ton!

One company that equipment currently holds the value is Elecraft!
