Ya, those are flip phones. I kept my flip phone until I couldn't stand it any more. You have to press a "number" button at least once, most of the time 2 or 3 times in order to enter one letter. Morse code at 20-25 WPM will beat it every time. Now I have an Android and a bluetooth full sized keyboard. I would beat 20-25 WPM morse code now. Easily. We now have more than a dozen SMS "like" protocols on HF now. Which is better? Yes, Ford or Chevy. Ginger or Mary-Ann. Coke or Pepsi. Depends what you're looking for. Ease? Below noise floor? Fun of a challenge? Location of the distributor? Red heads or brunettes? Nuanced flavor? To each his own. Freedom to choose is better than a group think.
