I ordered a control cable on eBay that was advertised to connect my Ft-847 to an ALS-600.
That is 5 pin DIN marked "STBY" on the FT to RCA on the ALS.

I received an 8 pin DIN to RCA with a printed label on the package stating:

    "for FT-950, FT-847, FT-450, FT-50D plug to "TUNER" socket."

I immediately notified the vendor affordableradio and he quickly responded that this was the correct cable.

I'm very afraid of smoking something I can't afford to get repaired. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Bill - KK4LYQ

This is the wrong forum for your question, But that is correct. It should be wired to the TX line.

Ok, thanks to all for the comments and thoughts. The vendor was correct, the cable did work, the amp came on and I QSOed Bill in Tenn who noted a change in signal strength when I went to operate on the amp.
