RADIO SHACK 19-1210 VHF-FM Mobile/Base Transceivers (NEW in the box) for UNLICENSED use under MULTI-USE RADIO SERVICE rules, for AMATEUR & ARES/MARS, CAP, SEARCH & RESCUE, and for emergency liaison communications with Command Posts; or for LICENSED use under BUSINESS, PUBLIC SAFETY, etc.; compatible with all other VHF-FM handheld, mobile and base radios on the "color dot" channels.

Power output of the 19-1210 is conservatively rated at 5 watts, with an internal low-power potentiometer for the five MURS frequencies, adjustable from 1 to 5 watts; FM deviation is also internally adjustable. Details in November, 2003, Popular Communications feature article as well as in Service Manual.

Pre-programmed frequencies are for the Green Dot (154.600 MHz) and Blue Dot (154.570 MHz) in Channels 1 and 2. Any 2 of the 5 MURS license-free frequencies are easily programmed into the 2 channels following instructions in the Operators Manual. Subaudible tone-squelch (CTCSS) may be programmed as well, providing 1 of 38 subchannels for interference-free monitoring, or tone-squelch may be disabled to allow monitoring of other communications before transmitting and in situations involving multiple users (ie, rescue, relief, or disasters).

NINE Business Band FREQUENCIES are USER-PROGRAMMABLE, five of those being license-free: 151.625 (Red Dot), 151.700, 151.760, 151.820(*), 151.880(*), 151.940(*), 151.955 (Purple Dot), 154.570 (Blue Dot*), 154.600 (Green Dot*); asterisked frequencies are LICENSE-FREE MULTI-USE RADIO SERVICE(*).

IN ADDITION TO THE NINE FREQUENCIES that are user-programmable, ANY 1 OF OVER 700 Business Band, Medic, Fire, Public Service, Forestry, SEARCH & RESCUE, CIVIL AIR PATROL, MARS, or other FREQUENCIES in the 148.000-157.740 MHz range MAY BE PROGRAMMED into the first channel manually from DIP-switch settings found in the Service Manual (for users who have a need for additional units and have an FCC license or authority to operate a unit under an organization's license). The second channel may be programmed only from the nine default frequencies above.
