You are 110% correct. However, this does not contradict the sign that said:

JUST BECAUSE IT'S LEGAL DOESN'T MEAN IT'S RIGHT

Good hams have to work to make sure this does not happen. This is also why we hams must make every effort to keep Ham Radio from becoming political. One of the basic rules of good amateur protocol is to avoid talking about politics and religion because they are too emotional for many people to make comments about and, perhaps, some other subjects as well IF they endanger the hobby. For me, the better way to "discuss" such things is by personal email, leaving ham radio out of it. Imagine that others not even in this country can hear what we are saying and when we discuss such things, we invite the full range of responses from the low end where the idiots reside to the high end where the geniuses live and many cannot tell the difference. Therefore, keeping the "hobby" within the limits of technology, for the most part, and leaving personal opinion out of it where it relates to views of politics and religion is a better way in regard to preserving the hobby.

Imagine the worst case where some want to get the ham frequencies back for use by commercial and government entities and they play back "conversations" recorded on 7200 and 14.313 and this becomes the ruination of ham radio and loss of our frequencies to others... Is this what we want? If not, then we must do some serious thinking about it and try to find ways to stop this in its tracks as quickly as possible. Jamming is not the way. Perhaps the addition of some identifying digital signal that is "tagged" to the radio signal would do it, as proposed for CB equipment at one time, would do it but to go back and incorporate it retroactively to everyone's equipment is unworkable. However, there are techniques of "radio fingerprinting" that can identify the jammers and lawbreakers but this would be a huge endeavor for the FCC. Perhaps this could be done by the Official Observer types and the info fed back to the FCC would work. I suspect it would and after catching a few dozen of them, the others would either straighten out their act or go back to racing motorcycles and speedboats and not be such a problem on ham radio frequencies. Having a few FCC agents show up on their doorsteps with official papers signed by a judge and accompanied by federal marshals or local police would do the trick, especially if also accompanied with a van to pick up the radios and amps. Getting into the perps' wallets does get their attention. Then, if it happens again, they could get into deeper trouble.

Yep, this would stop a mellova hot of it... Might take a year or two but it has to start, somewhere.

FCC ID number. I know that, I had a cranky corporate office to deal with in the past, a firewall/router can be configured to block a specific FCC ID from printing or scanning files through such a firewall/router. They found out some of the company employees where scanning documents to pdf, a requirement for what they were working on so it could be emailed, and the corporate IT people blocked it. When my boss bought a rather expensive piece of gear the corporate office just happened to have on hand, the 'blockage' suddenly went away. No other changes were made.

So it should be possible to SDR filter the FCC ID number of the offending ham. Of course, that info is not readily available.

WHOA! Imagine being shot at for refusing a station call; any law pales in comparison!

In Australia the only persons able to legally carry a firearm is a police/security officer.

Everyone else here just shoots their mouths off... and survives!
