a local guru heard me crying on the 2 meter nets about my fl2100 and decided to fix it for me and give me a lesson. i will report back after my first lesson is over with the verdict of the fault. thanks for all the help- peter- w2ppj

well i said i would report back so here it is - it had a bad tube and the wrong tubes, Cetrons are not desinged to be run horizontal so i put in new taylors. thanks for all the help!
Yes, Cetron 572Bs ARE designed to be used horizontally . . . and as mentioned, they were the tubes chosen by Yaesu and fitted in all their Linear Amplifiers ! So guess you just had a faulty tube. The "Taylor" tubes are made in China, and are replicas of the CetronTubes. (i just bought mine direct from China, so they weren't re-branded . . . but much cheaper!) Roger G3YRO
