In an effort to promote 2m FM simplex, I've launched the Five Two Simplex Challenge. It's simple, just call on on 146.52 MHz FM for 52 days in the months of March and April. There's no logs or formal exchange. The days do not need to be consecutive either, so if you miss a day or start late, it's not a problem. This isn't meant to be complicated, I'm just trying to encourage more activity. 73, Mike N2MAK
i drive for a living and would love to see more activity on 52...repeater hopping is a night mare and a deadly distraction as bad as cell phones...73 n4jdl john
Put a new 2m rig in truck on Saturday for our drive to Florida this upcoming weekend. while I was setting up I was giving my call and saying testing on 146.520. 2 different guys came back to me. Had a nice chat with both.
I probably travel across New York half a dozen to a dozen times a year for work and I've made some contacts on 52, but it'd be nice to get more activity for sure!
That's great! When I got in the car this morning, there were 2 people having a quick QSO on 52. I was able to work one of them after they finished and while the other was too far away, someone else heard and came back to my call. WHat a start to the day!
This is a great idea-- the more people who give this a try, the more people who will succeed! Let's all monitor and call out on 146.52!
This is an exciting opportunity to boost "RF in the Air"! I'm vlogging my journey on my YouTube channel, and I’m truly loving it. If you think 52 simplex is all but gone, I challenge you to spend just 10 MINUTES a day calling CQ. It’s a fantastic way to connect with others who are waiting to hear from you! Remember, there are far more listeners than talkers—let's shift that balance together!
In general, I try to do this at least occasionally, to see who's out there and try to keep it alive. In particular, if I'm on a long road trip, I'll call out on the '52 whenever I get near a city. I've had several nice little rag-chews that way, including joining in a roundtable that was going on driving through Chicagoland!
I totally agree! This is something that would be great for new Technicians and it's just FUN for hams of all license and experience levels.
