It did fly. The wings did create lift and it was maneuverable. Sour grapes from anyone else!

I fly for a living. Thanks, Orville. Thanks, Wilbur. I’m going to test your physics later today. I’ll let you know how my “controlled jump” of 1200 miles goes. And thanks to those organizing the worthy event. Celebrating history is a fun way to use ham radio.

By the way, Charles Darwin’s natural selection credit almost went to someone else who would beat him to publishing as Darwin procrastinated…by almost 20 years. Who discovered it first? Who knows. But Darwin published first. North Carolina. First in Flight. The license plate can’t be wrong.

Many might be surprised to learn that North Island in San Diego, which was actually once an actual island, became the winter home of aviation experimenters like Glenn Curtis, whose engines especially pushed the envelope of developmental aviation progress. Check out the book Waldo. Another good one.

When I first received my pilot certificate, Kitty Hawk was my first real cross country flight! Outstanding! :)

    Walter-

The Saratoga on your QRZ page is beautiful. I think I’ve told you in the past but bares repeating.

I hope you had a great event. Will you be posting an update here or just the event website?

MARCONI didn't "fly". MARCONI sent radio signals.
The first Italian "powered" flight was in 1909 by Marco Faccioli and he flew about 197' (60 mtrs) and crash landed.
Not any further than the Wright Bros longest "flight" that day.
