I've tried many repeaters in the Goodyear/Buckeye area and so far have not heard a peep or a response to my CQ on any 2m or 70cm repeater. Hoping to get some good suggestions while we snowbird in AZ. Only radio I brought with me is my Kenwood D74.

Rimlink should be easy over that direction. With the D74 you would also have DSTAR you could look for. The EAARS System might be a stretch from that side of town, especially if you are using the rubber duck antenna.
Local SOTA Traffic on 144.41 and the guys treating Ham as a CB on 146.52.
    Check out:

    Good Luck and 73!
