Wow, I’m glad you didn’t take up a shooting sport for a hobby. Congrats, BTW.
With skin in the game, quite literally, your antenna is destined to work very well, so say the gods of propagation and the spirit of Hiram Percy Maxim. 73, N4KZ

Real hams sacrifice some blood now and then during antenna installations. It's part of the initiation.
Glad your antenna is up. Make sure to tune up the radio on an unused frequency before keying up. People really like courtesy. I've found hams to unusually thoughtful and respectful.
Operators don't mind "suffering" newbies, as we were all new at some point. Get in, log that contact, and one day soon, a magic first QSL card might arrive in your mail.

With my aim, I'm sure I'd be buying the neighbors a new window!
I'm waiting for the 1st snow to put up a new antenna. Welcome to the HF world.
If it’s really snowy, cold, and nasty, might be a good day to string up some Christmas decorations while you’re out.
I'm glad your injury wasn't any worse than it was. I once ripped a finger open trying to put up an antenna.
Not impressed until you climb up and down a ladder because you've dropped your tools multiple times. All to make a contact with someone on the other side of town.
