Field Day represents one of the last bastions to the origins of what amateur radio really is, and this last weekend revealed it is under attack by a herd of "professional" contest stations exploiting rule waivers(thanks ARRL) due to china flu. So here we have comfy world class installations being used in an event intended as an emergency communication exercise to hone skills in expedience under potentially adverse environmental conditions.
Professional contesters, there are plenty of contests. If you want to be a good ambassador to radio sport,
shut off the three phase and ego for a weekend, and join in.
Get out, get some some fresh air and try your hand at 100 watts and a wire. Who knows, you may even find you can keep up with A an B class with similar equipment.
    6 Delta on Field Day?
The ARRL needs to sunset the "pandemic" point score incentive rule waivers for D class stations on FD ASAP, or it will become just another economy and ego driven ham radio contest.

Or hams could get out and operate portable 52 weeks out of the year and not wait for the "not a contest" Field Day weekend.

Anyone who isn't doing radio like me is doing it wrong.

Three phase? The limit was 150W for D. I was lucky to see 100W on peaks. Sorry for perturbing you.

Yet another rant about someone else not doing ham radio their way?

    Sure looks that way.

Pardon me for shouting, but IT IS NOT A CONTEST!
Those "contest grade" stations would be a very valuable
    resource if the SHTF?
They would be much more help than my meager station.

What constitutes a "professional contester"? o_O

A "profession" is how a person makes a living. How does contesting do that?

Yaecomwood pays them a dollar per contact. Everyone knows that.

I believe you mean there seemed to be too many 1D stations by proportion to other categories. Also, 1D stations allowed to work other 1D stations according to the rules.
I would tend to agree. Hopefully, next year the rules will be back to where they were in 2019 where 1Ds cannot work other 1Ds for points.

Anyways, try to have fun and challenge yourself:)

You were in different categories. What do not you like? On a NFD 2021 (IARU REG1), by the rules there were I and a collective of Germans in one category. Where's the justice?
