Paul- N9PCT here again! I am helping a friend of mine fix his local club repeater. They were running echolink on a donated ("donated") computer that the donor wanted back. So after giving the computer back, we have decided to overhaul their echolink system by adding IRLP via EchoIRLP, and running it all off a raspberry pi. It's been done before, how hard can it be? Apparently pretty hard. They have their Motorola VHF repeater controlled by an FF800 repeater controller - which I can find no reference of on this forum. The PC was connected to the FF800 via a DB9 serial port. My question is: can we use this DB9 port to connect the raspberry pi to run EchoIRLP? Do we need an IRLP board or can we just run it straight from the pi? Will we need a sound card with a DB9 port? This is new territory for both of us. He's a new ham and I specialize in HF! I look forward to the help that QRZ has always seemed to provide, thanks!!
