I'd hate to bring this thread back on topic but...

I noticed that the last time the FCC made a change to the Amateur radio licensing requirements it was about 18 months from when the NPRM was published and the R&O that made it a rule. It was then about four months before the rule went into effect.

So it's been about 13 months since the NPRM was published. I think that it will be another 6 months before we hear from them again on the topic. All this banter is because someone in the ARRL was getting impatient and decided to ask the FCC what was taking so long.

The delay is just business as usual.

There is a lot more to the FCC than ham radio .... like selling off frequencys and giving in to BPL ........

Perhaps I need to build a 6m CW rig and do some QRP on 50Mhz for while. That would be a good way to get code practice. Maybe I will see if I can find a local supplier of 50Mhz crystals for this....

If you build one remember they have to know the load on the crystal also how are you going to key it ?? Don't even think of keying the oscillator ..... not at 50 mhz ....

JAN crystals ft myers fl they will make them from 50.000 - 50.099 mhz for CW...... $20 each ( .001% )  now crystals for AM are $15 ( .005% ) ..... I have some 30 years old still working just fine ...... AM crystals that is ....... since there is no CW except for illeagal jammers here ......
