Need to add to what I said before. There is another option. DON'T SHOW UP. And while this would seem contrary to logical thought, if YOU ain't there and they actually need you, they will miss you and try to find you. BUT be warned.... if you are part of the ones that try to force their way in. Are a solution looking for a problem they don't have to begin with. Or have just made them mad in some way, and they are glad to be rid of you. You will need to face the fact that YOU were not bringing anything useful to the table to begin with and they will be just fine without you there. That is sometimes a hard pill to swallow, but in the end it actually further your position with them. At some point they MAY need you, and then they will need to reevaluate their stance on ARES and hams in general. But just because they don't need you doesn't mean that you stop. You find another box to check for someone else. I have said this before as well, we are SUPPOSE to be technically minded problem solvers. NOT coffee makers, people counters or any of the rest of the crap that Joe Average off the street can do. And if that is all that you are doing, either take off the vest and put the radios away, or go home and take care of your family.
