Today, I had the misfortune to realize that if one drops or loses the coil clip they are out of business. Has anyone figured out a DIY or improvised coil clip.

Considering what I paid for my Buddipole package this seems like a real fatal flaw. As the final insult. When I got home I went to order some replacement clips and realized that with shipping a pack of three (3) clips would be over $30.

Has anyone figured out a DIY solution that will fit on the coil as a field expedient coil clip:

I rarely move the clips once they are set. Yes, they're too easy to lose.

Some folks use meter leads with a push-out contact in place of the clips.

Call or email for actual shipping; bet it's a lot less than the standard $30.

yes! some of those pushouts have hooks!
my buddistick has the same .....idiosyncracy. i bought a bunch of extra clips right at the
beginning because i could lose a tank in the middle of an interstate highway, never mind
    sand or grass.

    Hi Tom,

I have just visited the Buddipole website and found the following:
Replacement set (3) of clips: $13.50
Ship to your Zip Code (32162) via USPS Priority Mail: $8.42
    Total Cost: $21.92

Still slightly outrageous, but much better than your $30+ finding.

And if you Google "buddipole coil clips" you will find several sources, including YouTube videos, on how to roll your own.

    Good luck.

thanks to everyone for their help. I only run QRP and the test clips seem like exactly what I need. I just order 10 for $9 from amazon. Hopefully they work. If not Amazon has free returns. Again thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

One more question. Does anyone know what size the male banana plugs are and I will order some of those also.

I've used the Pomona mini & micro clips and they work best when the wire is completely "exposed" like the lead on a component. For a wire in a groove on a coil they can easily slip off as they want to hook around to the back side of the wire.
