    That should be a prerequisite for ANYONE who teaches, regardless of the level! We'd have a lot smarter students graduating and a lot fewer kooky instructors!

    The best college profs I had were the ones that had worked for a living in the real world. They were teaching because they loved it, not because it was the only place they could hold a decent-paying job.

    That would not only cause inequality in an almost assuredly egalitarian and socialist society, but it would drive up the price of rice and beans such that the average tribesman _without_ the ability to work in the mine would starve to death.
    Remote tribes and societies have functioned for thousands of years without capitalist influence or the desire to 'compete', just because we like capitalism doesn't mean it fits with others' way of life.
