One of our club members ordered a few cheap handhelds for us to use for teaching newly licensed folks, which he said were Baofengs. I expected the usual UV5R that I have seen multiple times. What he dropped off was a little weird. They came in generic looking, non-laminated brown cardboard boxes and sort of look like UV5Rs however when holding the handheld with the keypad facing you the antenna is on the left side. Is this just the latest iteration or is this some sort of counterfeit rip off of an already cheap Chinese radio? Anything to know about these beyond the usual discussion of the quality or lack of in CCRs?
