    Ernest “Ernie” Burgess Bonner, 64, of Cedarwood Drive, passed away Monday morning, April 30, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Health — Lexington Medical Center.

    A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of First Reformed United Church of Christ by the Rev. June Grubb. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.

    The family will greet friends at the church chapel after the service.

    Ernest was born in Mecklenburg County to Ernie Bonner and Lavada Godfrey Bonner. He was a self-employed musician and was well-known for his ability as a jazz pianist. He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Ernest is survived by his wife, Sherry Sink Bonner of the home; son Christopher D. Bonner of Greensboro; stepmother Jackie Bonner of Huntersville; stepsons Wesley and Robert Reece of Lexington; and his special pets, Xena, Katie and Winston.

    The family would like to thank the staff of Alston Brook for all their love and care given to Ernie during his stay.

    Memorials should be directed to First Reformed United Church of Christ, 104 E. Center St., Lexington, NC 27292 or to Humane Society of Davidson County, P.O. Box, 1791, Lexington, NC 27293.

    Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
