    Erik Hein, VE1EH SK

Hein, Erik – 79 of Brooklyn NS, formerly of Tantallon, passed away on August 21, 2024. Born in Copenhagen Denmark on August 26, 1944, Erik was the son of the late Alfred and Dagmar Hein.

I would first like to apologize for the tardiness of this obituary. My father’s passing was sudden and beyond devastating for myself, my children, and his closest friends Shelley, Doug and Tom. We were so grateful to have you with us during this difficult time, so thank you all for that.

Dad was loved by everyone who met him. He had the most incredible sense of humor and the biggest heart of anyone I know. After losing my mom a few years ago, he became my best friend. He was my confidant, my person, my whole world.
Next to my mother, his greatest love was sailing (and his Yorkie princess, Missy.) We would spend every available moment on the water, and I am so grateful that he instilled the same love for it in me. In 2009 Mom and Dad retired on their boat in the Bahamas, where they first met, so it only seems fitting that they both be returned there for their final resting place.

Dad came to Canada from Copenhagen, Denmark when he was 18 years old. He became an apprentice in small electronics repair and eventually became the district sales and service manager for diagnostic imaging in all the Atlantic provinces.

He is survived by his daughter Sarah Hein and his grandchildren, Joshua, Kristina and Emma.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Judith (Pritchard,); sisters, Birgit and Lone.

Cremation has already taken place and there will be a private Celebration of Life at a later time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the JW Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215 Summerville (Phone 902-633-2431). Please visit their website at allenfh.ca if you wish to sign the guest book and/or send private condolences.
