    Some quick notes:

Li-on battery for 8 hours of "transceiver operation", must be removed to be charged.
    80-10 meter band
    SSB, CW, Data modes
    Small, lightweight
    No filter options
    $749

I'm currently radio-less in HF and my QTH is not possible to play radio from. I was heavily leaning towards an 817ND, but I think this may be a better fit for me.

Anyone going to FDIM that can play with this thing and bring back details?

I predict once you add in all the needed extras it will be one pricey radio, just like it's bigger sibling

You mean just like all the other multi-band multi-mode HF transceivers? An 817 will run you about the same once you add the necessary accessories and you end up with an old tech radio that eats up batteries and has a tiny little screen. I think the KX2 is going to be the radio that takes Yeasu out of the QRP market, and Icon and Kenwood aren't even a thought.

I bet when you add the "options" it will hit 1K. elecraft makes some good stuff, I have several pieces. I have had a k1 for about 4 months. Wish I had waited....

Eyeballing the pricing sheet, it might run $1250-1300 depending.

Went for the radio, ATU, battery and charger $1014 + tax and shipping.
Their microphone is too large - will use phone earbuds and external key.

I second that. I like my KX3, but the size of the KX2 looks very impressive. I like their battery choice. It's about time they started using a better battery.
