How well would an Eimac 8189/4PR1000A [Tetrode] work as a linear amp?
Fine. The 4PR1000A is a somewhat beefed-up 4-1000A but in regular RF amplifier service is the same as a 4-1000A.
The "PR" series tubes were pulse-rated, so the anode structure can withstand slightly higher anode dissipation power, but are otherwise identical to the standard 4-1000A. The (very short) pulse duration, however, is defined in the data sheet, and must not exceed the average dissipation rating, averaged over time.
Thank you for this info.
