    Highlights: the Kermadec region north of New Zealand exploded today and caused several tsunami alerts, starting with the;

    M8.1 Kermadec Islands New Zealand 2021-03-04 19:28 19.4 80 m, 30 m dome, all bands atten., except 20 m, precursor (-3 h to +1 h)

    In addition there was a M7.4, M7.3, several M6.1 and M6.2 and countless aftershocks.

    Only 5 people reported the most energetic event ever recorded by the RF-Seismograph with a total energy disbursal of: 41116 TJ!

    Today there were 49 significant earth quakes that were recorded by the USGS ranging in the size from M4.5 to M8.1. The total power output of all the quakes that were recorded by the USGS was 41116489.57 GJ or 475885.30 MW over a 24 h period.

    43 of these quakes were recorded by the RF-Seismograph. For details and a graphical capture of the propagation and explanation see graph below.

    Synopsis: The 10 m band noise was elevated with the precursor event of three minor quakes that also ended at high transition period that started after 00:00 UTC and lasted for 45 min. All these quakes were from Alaska, and struck after 00:23 UTC and within 15 min. After 02:00 UTC there was a brief 80 m opening that was caused by a transitional wave that also returned 20 m into the high state when it faded. This high state lasted for 75 min and was ended by the M4.4 from Japan when it struck at 03:26 UTC. The noise of all band started to drop after 06:00 UTC with the event of four quakes. The first one was a M4.7 from the Loyalty Islands at 06:23 UTC, it was followed by the M4.3 from Russia 23 min after, the M4.8 from the Loyalty Islands again at 07:11 UTC and last the M4.9 from the Solomon Islands ending at 07:23 UTC. Propagation on 80 m resumed after 10:15 UTC with the double event of the M4.7 from Russia striking at 10:50 UTC and the M2.63 from Puerto Rico. Then the precursor of the M7.3 from Gisborne, New Zealand that struck at 13:27 UTC started to effect the ionosphere. Interesting is that all the aftershocks and the several even stronger quakes from the Loyalty Islands, did not completely wipe out the bands for the day, especially after yesterdays solar wind event. At 15:00 UTC there was a 20 m opening that was created by three quakes that came from the Loyalty Island region and were measured between M5.0 to M5.4 and struck after 15:09 UTC within 19 min of each other. The M4.6 from Nicaragua at 16:06 UTC was attenuating, but the M4.7 from New Zealand at 16:36 UTC and the M2.58 from Stanley, Idaho brought it back and it dropped with the M6.1 from Vanuatu that struck at 16:53 UTC. The M4.7 from the Volcano Islands in Japan made a 20 m propagation dome that lasted for 30 min as it stuck at 17:19 UTC. As the M7.4 from Kermadec struck at 17:41 UTC all bands went out as expected with such an event, but unexpectedly the 20 m came back very strong as the M8.1 that struck at 19:28 UTC and more aftershocks as the M6.1 that released at 20:25 UTC. There was a gap after 20:45 UTC for 45 min, but 20 returned with more clusters. After 23:15 UTC the band goes out again with the M2.82 from Puerto Rico that struck at 23:07 UTC. After that there were four more aftershocks including a M6.2 but the bands were gone for the day.
