“Five Volcanos” is the name of the chain of Dxpeditions, which will be held in 5 inactive volcanos of Turkey: Mount Agri(5137m), Mount Süphan(4053m), Mount Nemrut(2935m), Mount Hasan(3268m) and Mount Erciyes(3916m).

A special callsign (with YM prefix instead of TA) is reserved for each Dxpedition, and a special QSL card will be issued for each of these. The whole project will be resulted in a 3 year time period due to the difficulty of climbing to these mountains in the winter season with DXpedition equipments; due to the financial reasons, and lack of time of Dxpeditioners.

Radio amateurs having all 5 QSL cards will also be awarded with “FIVE VOLCANOS” award by TRAC, Turkish Radio Amateurs Society.

The first step of the project will be held on Mount Agri between July 24th and July 30th 2001; with YM9VA callsign. This Dxpedition will be done in coordination with another project organised by a group of climbers, all previously reached to the Everest Mountain’s summit.
