n1ztb writes " I have noticed more and more that the "help" questions are getting ever more basic. I thought techs had to know the difference between AM and FM to get a license. It seems that the "buy it, plug it in, damned if I know how it works" ham is getting more and more common.

Look at some of the questions that appear in the Q&A section. I realize that new hams need help sometimes, but what about BASIC knowledge and common sense? It seems there alot of people who should re-read their "Now you're talking" books.

Are these people really interested in amateur communications? Or simply "bring-home-a-loaf-of-bread" chatter? It's intersting that alot of these same people are staunch CB supporters. It's nice to see the hobby grow, but we MUST maintain the QUALITY of the hobby as well. Simply handing out a license to everyone will not do.
