Published on Jun 6, 2017 The “Space Weather Woman”, Dr. Tamitha Skov is interviewed by Tim Duffy, K3LR during the 2017 Contest University in Dayton, Ohio on May 19, 2017. Dr. Tamitha Skov stares at the Sun a lot. She is a credentialed space weather forecaster and has been helping the public understand the effects of Space Weather on our daily lives since 2013. Tamitha works primarily in the fields of solar and space physics research and in the testing of spacecraft materials in realistic space radiation environments. But her forecasting work as the “Space Weather Woman” is widely known on social media such as You Tube, Twitter, and Facebook and you may have caught her on several television shows for The Weather Channel and The History Channel.
Entertaining - but nothing really said of substance. Book Smart - however not street wise...difficult to link credibility not being an ACTIVE Amateur radio operator. The Government "Think Tanks" have missed forecasting this present cycle by more than a long country mile. Randy - W7TJ
Good interview. Interesting background. Certainly appreciate the time she puts into her solar vids. Elwood, WB0OEW
She is studying for her ticket Randy. Her work and family obligations are quite demanding. She was hoping to have her ticket before Dayton but ran out of time. Don, AE5DW
So because she is not a HAM she does not provide value to the community? What makes her not street wise? Just because she is not a HAM. C'mon.
So maybe because she's a woman W7TJ you don't give her creditability? Is it that or do you ot think she's some what less of a person since she has no License?
Indeed, how many hams are experts in this field? She talks in terms of the next 7 days, not eleven year cycles. She has the latest observations and can predict, within reason, what to expect for the next week. Real time information that is useful.
