    Hi all,
JT65-HF works JT65A as WSJT or Multipsk but it's the only that receive and decode all trasmissions made in the same minute.
So if you want you can segle to answer the CQ you prefer among all and don't loose the small DX signal
when the band is busy or you get QRM from other DIGI modes trasmission.
JT65-HF also has bandwidth filters that you can set for the best RXing and you also can segle among single and multi decoder.
I think is the best way for Terrestrial JT65A and you can download free for HAM use on:

    160 Meter JT65A

Hi Steve that would be great! I have my low full wave loop up for summer 160 meter operating and we should be able to have a QSO between FL and NH.

Do you get on the http://jt65.w6cqz.org JT65A chat room? We can meet there and coordinate a QSO from there. I would recommend a QSO on 1807 kc USB instead of 1838 kc USB. 1838 kc is a very busy frequency with CQ.

If you don't get on the chatroom email me directly at nz4o@arrl.net and we can try this evening.

    CW Versus JT65A

The JT65A mode was originally for EME (moon bounce) work but recently was adapted for HF DXing. It really is an amazing mode for weak signal work. I've had QSO's with hams whose signals were as weak as -30 below the noise level.

Since April I have worked 18 DXCC entities and 16 states, all with 1-4 watts on 80-6 meters. I think CW and JT65A are a dead heat as far as very weak signals getting through the QRM and QRN. However you don't need a computer to work CW.

I have been a ham since 1989 and have always been a CW operator, a ham with a 20 wpm CSCE from the W5YI VE organization. However by 2003 I was so disgusted by the behavior of hams on SSB phone and to a lesser extent on CW that I was ready to sell all of my equipment.

Then I discovered the digital modes, an arena where hams are still gentlemen and a brotherhood exists. I started out with PSK31, then MFSK16, RTTY and Olivia. At one time or another I've worked just about every digital mode out there.

Without the digital modes I would have not renewed my ham ticket in 2009.

Who would have thought a digital mode would be as controversial as politics...

Very astute, Fred. Last night, with a little time on my hands, I downloaded the program & set it up for receive only. Wow, perfect copy of multiple signals on 14.076 (some I couldn't even see on the waterfall)! Very slick radio fun for those limited to QRP & stealth antennas. Kind of a slow pace, though (like watching paint dry), but otherwise just as much related to "communication" as this fictional series of CW transmissions: "B1GDX QRZ? WD8KNI AGN? WD8KNI WD8? WD8KNI WD8KNI WD8KNI 5NN R TU 599 WD8KNI B1GDX QRZ?" :D

Looks kind'a cool!! Just downloaded and set it up and it receives fine. I can't make the PTT work, however. Run PSK through HRD DM 780 with no problem, PTT on COM4. Can't get this program to key the rig, however.

Yes, I did fill in my callsign!! ;)

    Back to trouble-shooting!!

    Hi Bob,
You have to run another COM port for the PTT and not the same of HRD.
Anyway you can TX using the VOX only without COM port.

The software is nice, I've tried it, but personally I can't see the point in using this mode to take 6 minutes to exchange minimal information with people you could easily have a proper contact using PSK31 or whatever, which is what seems to happen most of the time. JT65 was designed for EME or something where signals really are weak and a proper contact just isn't possible most of the time. Why use it on HF? Beats me.

But is it any less of "communication" than hollering your call over and over again until the DX replies "G4ILO you're 59"?

Had to step away from the shack for a moment but your CQ came through fine here.

I actually was in QSO with a European when my breaker tripped!! 1st QSO and that had to happen. Forgot to write his call down!! I forgot that I can't run the window A/C while everything is full-bore . . . apparently even when running only 10 watts!!
