Douglas Alt, WA9SDC SK Doug Alt, a man whose sense of humor could brighten even the darkest days, went to his Heavenly home on November 16, 2024, at age 87. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Henry and Althea Alt (née Lustig), Doug grew up in a family that valued hard work and laughter, qualities he carried with him throughout his life. Doug enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and served nine years. While stationed at Yokota AFB in Japan, he fell in love and married his first wife, Masaki Ushioda, the mother of their three children. A financial advisor by profession, Doug had an uncanny ability to make complex financial concepts understandable, and many of his clients became dear friends. Upon retiring, he moved to Belhaven, NC, the home of his third wife, Judi Raburn. He accepted Christ and the invitation to be baptized at age 75, and continually recognized God’s hand in his life. Doug found his greatest joy on the open road, riding motorcycles and exploring life at full throttle. The roar of an engine and the feel of the wind were his ways of staying connected to the world around him. Doug was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Masaki (née Ushioda), his third wife, Judith Dae Raburn, his parents, and brothers Carlton and David. He is survived by his children: daughter Adair Flaherty (Bill), and sons Gary (Lorie) and Mark (Maria). He was also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, who inherited his knack for seeing the lighter side of life. He spent his final two years in Sarasota, FL, near his son Mark. Those who knew him will remember his quick-witted humor and his compassionate heart. Whether it was a perfectly timed one-liner at a family dinner or comforting someone in grief, Doug had a gift for bringing smiles to the faces around him. Doug Alt’s life was a testament to finding joy in the journey and love in everyday relationships. His laughter echoes on, riding alongside us as we navigate the road ahead. A private celebration of life will be held in Sarasota, FL in early 2025. https://www.jsonline.com/obituaries/pwix1014858
