Our local association and the entire radio community are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of our esteemed local association chairman Mathias (DO1WI).

    No farewell...
... no preparation for this moment

Just a blink of an eye later, dad and husband Mathias was no longer there.

Mathias passed away completely unexpectedly at home on the evening of 04.04.2025.
The pain that now weighs on the family is unimaginable.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Madlen and his 8-year-old daughter Hannah.

Mathias was the heart of our association, a tireless driver who has achieved an incredible
who achieved an incredible amount in recent years and formed a strong community.

He was not a dreamer, but rather a visionary. We had so many plans together. His commitment and positive nature inspired us all.

Mathias was always helpful and there for everyone, not just in the club, but also as a friend. His family was particularly close to his heart. He was a loving father who always made time for his daughter, whether it was on bike rides together or the weekly riding lessons they loved so much.

Mathias was also very committed to his job and traveled long distances for it. Here, too, he was highly motivated and continued to develop.

We would like to support Madlen and Hannah during this difficult time and at least ease their financial burden a little.

On behalf of the family, we would like to thank you for any contribution, no matter how small.

The loss of a friend is always a sad occasion, the loss of a vital member of a club is always impactful.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of your club and for his family.

In Hamlet, we see "The readiness is all" often expressed as "It is not the going, but the being ready that counts"...

May you all find Peace in his memory.
