That is unfortunate. At least packet (in "ye olde daze") allowed for more than just a "5x9, BYE" exchange. I remember some packet exchanges that lasted at least several minutes, with at least somewhat meaningful exchanges of information. I still have my packet equipment, but a computer breakdown has taken me off the air. Of course, that WAS in "ye olde daze." I still have my packet equipment (A KPC-3, and added a used KPC-2) mostly at the ready, but a computer crash took out the regular RS-232 serial cable interface.. If (or when) I get a RS-232>USB converter, I will try to get back on packet. There ARE still some important uses.
