I got asked recently about my Diamond V-2000 and how it is installed and the performance I have gotten out of this base station vertical antenna. The V2000 covers the 6 meter, 2 meter and 70cm bands.

It only covers 52-54 MHz on 6m. Can that be modified to cover the low end?

I just bought a v2000 and i wonder if making the vertical element longer would change swr?

Lazy me, I bought one of these at a hamfest two years ago and have yet to go through the process of lowering a tilt over tower to install it. Hopefully this Summer and I'll see what has been said here then. hehe

Hello again. I did make the vertical element longer by using parts from a telescopic whip antenna and adjusting the length. I had to put a plastic pipe in the mid section because the antenna got to long for the original housing. vswr went from 2.2ish to 1.26 on 50.313. Lowest part was 1.11 on 50.78ish. Will adjust more so the swr is great at 50.313 and 144.925 when the weather is better.
