Determine If Contact Has a QRZ.com Logbook BEFORE Logging Them?

    You do know where you are posting? QRZ is just that way. ...And yes I think its strange that you or anyone would look up a potential conversation participant before deciding to join in.

    You'll have an even better chance if you use lotw and import it into the qrz logs. Works for the award just as well as it's a valid confirmation.

    I guess I'm reading it the same as you. Why would a ham pass up an opportunity to have a conversation with another ham(s) because of some issue with a logbook? If you were hunting for specific locations for an award that's a much different story. But not for routine day to day contacts.

    I have nothing against folks who keep a log or accumulate awards. There's room for all interests. As an aside, after over 60 years in the hobby, I have never applied for WAS or any similar certificate, never been that interested.
