    Hi

Michael I had my first cw qso christmas 2009 with a very good W3 op I can now copy up to 20wpm no problems if the cw is send well.

This is how I did it.

I downloaded G4FON Koch Trainer set the actual character speed to 20wpm
and effective code speed to 15wpm.

In "file" setup effective speed "Each Character".

It took me a long time to learn the 40 characters. I had no idea about dits and dahs or how many dits and dahs made up a character.

I was only interested in the sound they made.

G4FON Koch Trainer also sends whole words and qsos after you have mastered 40 characters.

A local ham here gives lessions on 2 meters so I joined his class learn`t how many dits dahs make up the characters and started sending. Get on the air as soon as you can.

Whatever you do with cw Michael have fun. You will find 99.9% of cw ops will slow down to your speed and are only to happy to welcome new blood. If your looking for the spirit of ham radio here you will find it.

    Cheers

    Paul
