Cuban Government Jamming 40 meter US HAM BAND! This has been happening since 7/11/2021 when the Cuban uprising began our group started communicating with the island of Cuba on the 40 meter Ham Band 7.125-7.75. We have been interfered with every day since the Cuban totalitarian government started to create a constant noise generator which has been jamming the US 40 Meter Ham Band day and night for the past 96 hours straight. Thank you for reporting this K4KKC. Cuba jamming the ham bands should concern us as hams and as human beings.
Just like the Soviet OTH radars of the 1980s, there is little to nothing that the US or others can do to "re-open" 40 meters or any other band. It would require direct action on their transmitters, their power grid, etc. and that would be construed badly by the world community.
I'm curious just what it would be they would be blocking? Surely not hams from the US given the band segment that seems to be the target is largely the "Slow speed CW" watering holes around 7.110 That small range of frequencies is hardly a bastion of US anti-Cuban broadcasting. Dave W7UUU
Someone left the cover lid off the output stage of one of their shortwave diathermy machines. A counter-broadcast repeatedly sending LEMM* might mitigate the problem. * Spanish for RTFM
Dave We are operating on the US Voice Spectrum and the constant jamming is on 7.125-7.145, then picks up again on 7.157. You can get on your radio and check for yourself.
So WHAT are they jamming? The Noontime Net? I don't understand why they would bother jamming ham radio in the first place - it's a TINY TINY minority of any population. Why not "jam the internet" if you want to stop the flow of information? Dave W7UUU
Absolutely NOTHING heard here but some local ragchews and a net. But unless the jammer were running MILLIONS of watts, I'd not expect to hear much on 40 meters here near Seattle in the middle of the day Dave W7UUU
They already took the whole island offline so the citizens have no access to the World Wide Web. Ham Radio is their only way to pass information in and out of the island.
The issue is there is a humanitarian crisis going on in the island of Cuba and the only thing that works is Ham Radio
I can not do radio in the 40 band because there is this interference. Does it bother colleagues from Florida, SC, NC? Here in Suriname it arrives very strong, does anyone have the answer? no one shows their face?
The Cuban Government is jamming 40 meters in Florida and it is causing interference as far up as Orlando and Jacksonville.
