Marty Sullaway, NN1C, gives me hope that the amateur radio hobby will endure long into the future. He is technically savvy, operationally sound, and willing to commit the hours needed to be extraordinary. At a very young age, he’s already attained an envious level of proficiency. Marty joined me to talk about contesting in general and the recent ARRL 10 Meter contest specifically. For that contest, Marty operated ZF1A in Grand Cayman remotely with his usual team of top-notch ham radio contesters.

Thanks for watching, Jay! Marty is definitely a knowledgeable young man and I also learned a lot from his suggestions. I'll look for KK1J on the air.

Thanks for the note Ken. I appreciate your QRP approach to ham radio. This hobby has a lot of tentacles and it's always interesting to see how people participate. All the best, kt

This is great Kevin! I do comb Youtube quite a bit and not familiar with your channel until now. This particular interview was very concise with not a lot of time invested to watch. Also this interview is very relevant for me as I have one of Marty's SO2R controllers sitting in front me where I have dipped my toe into that style of operating, fun and overwhelming at the same time. What a wise young ham that has learned a lot about contesting. In regards to the interview questions, I too have many of the same questions at times of when to Run versus S&P, or what band should I be on for the time of day to get the balance of Q's and Mult's....particularly in my own state of WI QSO party. Then also asking myself, "what is the competition doing?"

Thank you for the quality content! Subscribed!
