Better late than never, first QRZ post in almost 30 years of operating.

Does anyone live in or travel into NYC with a conspicuous mobile setup, eg. Texas bugcatcher, 2m and 70cm super J, etc, and if so how do you manage security?

Previously I've only taken an HT but am contemplating stopping in Brooklyn to visit my niece for a while on my way upstate but am concerned about parking on the street. I usually only move for the street sweepers when in the city and mostly use the subway.

    Any tips?

I have lived and worked in the NYC metro area all my life and worked at various times in midtown Manhattan -- parking my vehicles on street both there and in the Outer Boroughs with permanently (albeit not terribly conspicuously) mounted 2m/440 mobile rigs with trunk-lip antennas. I have never had either a radio or antenna stolen or molested. Maybe I've just been lucky. YMMV. ;)
