The bottom limit of the general phone band plan is 7.175.00.
I was pointing out to him his band limits that he did not know. 7.178.00 is not the bottom. But I understand what you are saying, I myself always stay at least 5MHZ above the limit.

You typed MHz, when we are all certain you meant KHz. He's being a wiseguy

    Oops, Ok you got me!
You know I looked at it and said, It doesn't look right. I edited the MHZ into lower case and still it didn't look right. Yes 5 Khz, I don't go below 7.180.00 to be safe. Darn and can't blame this one on the spell checker.

    Thanks everyone, :)

Don't worry about it, move on. Don't make the same mistake again. Amateur radio is about learning. Did you learn something?
The next thing to do is upgrade to Extra so you won't have to worry about it next time. Unless you are on phone in the cw portion!

Two common mistakes are admitting your mistakes on the Zed (which starts a different kind of pileup) and missing Brain-O-Graphic errors before the dreaded "30 minute edit window" expires (starts another pileup).
Glad you made it down to HF! :p

So true. Time and time again I have heard people complain about conditions, not hearing anyone, the band is dead, when in fact they have poor antennas and poor understanding of propagation.

I would encourage the OP to put up the best antennas he can manage, and learn enough about propagation to have realistic expectations. In anticipation of sunspot decline, I invested in better low-band antennas and they are really paying off.
