Coming this weekend, August 4th through 6th, Ten Mile River Scout Reservation (TMR) will celebrate its 90th anniversary with much fanfare. First opened in 1927 thanks to Franklin D. Roosevelt and several other prominent men of the time, 14,000 acres was acquired surreptitiously from local landowners through a plan hatched by FDR to keep the NYC Boy Scouts out of the deal so the owners wouldn’t try to gouge the Boy Scouts. Special Event Operators KB2FMH, KC2EKE and W2EJV will activate W2T for this monumental event, operating right in the thick of the celebration. The goal is to make as many folks aware of the camp as possible through operations on all bands from 10 through 80 meters, conditions permitting. There will be two stations in play throughout the weekend operating Phone and some CW, depending on who is at the radio. Frequencies will be updated on the QRZ page live and hopefully will be current on the many spotting websites. Please make it a point to contact us and if you know any Scouts, put them on the air with us. A special certificate and QSL card will be available for all those who are in the log. These shall be sent via Email but if you want a paper card, simply send a SASE to the QSL address listed on QRZ.
