The Elecraft KX2 transceiver uses the Si5351A as the local oscillator. The schematics for that rig can be downloaded as a PDF file from Elecraft.

Interesting. I'm just looking into this for the first time. How do you program the oscillators to your specific frequency?

All of these...DDS, Si570 and Si5351a...are programmable via microcontrollers such as the Arduino and PIC. A Si535a board to plug into one of the popular Arduino boards is available from several vendors, under $10. Two are Adafruit.com and qrp-labs.com. Adafruit products are sold also through Amazom, and are over-the-counter from Microcenter stores or online.

A lot of VFOs, BFOs, siggens, etc. have been done, and the program code is generally available free.

I did not know that. Well that certainly speaks well of the ~5351, doesn't it?

Thank you, Ted. I ordered the Adafruit SI5351a breakout this morning. Looks very promising. I already have an Arduino Uno test bed and I'm anxious to give it a try.

Great, Terry. You will get some good experience with that.
