    I think the 806 is a drop-in (or near drop-in) replacement for the 250 TH or TL. I once read somewhere that RCA discontinued the 806 as the result of a patent dispute with Eimac. Quite a turn-around, since in the past it was nearly always the other manufacturer that was forced to defer to RCA.

    You may be right. I had some idea the 806 was capable of much higher power, although a pair of them will produce 1 KW according to RCA TT-3 tube manual.
    Raytheon also made a tube similar to the 250TH. I can't recall the type number but Hallicrafters used one in the HT-4.
