    Hello fellow hams.

I recently purchased an Icom 7610 and then RS-BA1 V2 and Hex beam etc.

Needless to say, my wallet is pretty thin, hi hi.

I had an old Contour "Shuttle Xpress" laying around from my Premiere Pro video days and decided, what the heck, let's see if I can use it as a remote encoder...

    Well, It WORKS!

You can still buy one online at http://contourdesign.com/

I have the cheap model, the Xpress. It is $60

    Anyway, here are simplified instructions:

    1. Obtain the Shuttle device, plug it into a free USB port and install the Contour Designs Win/Mac application that is available on the manufacturer's website.

    2. Open RS-BA1 (v1 or 2 works fb) and then the contour control panel app.

    3. At this point, you should have long ago mapped your RS-BA1 functions to keyboard keys, so you can use your keyboard to control your favorite things like tuning, AF, filters, etc. If you haven't mapped your favorite keys, it is easy. In BA1, select Option and then Shortcut... here, you can map keyboard keys to most functions and buttons on the BA1 application. You should map and test all your favorite keyboard keys first.

    4. In the Contour Control Panel, you will see a "settings manager " for all kinds of video editing applications. We need to add Icom RS-BA1 to this list. Click the OPTIONS button, then "Create New Settings", Then "Create Empty Settings". Navigate to the Icom Remote Control App. Mine is installed here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Icom\RS-BA1\RemoteController

    5. Now select the application RemoteCtrl.exe (it will then show up as RemoteCtrl in the Contour app application Setting) Click Apply.

    6. Back in the Contour Control Panel, you simply map "keystrokes" to the jog and shuttle wheels, as well as the buttons on the Shuttle. I will give you my basic settings, you may need to tailor things to your operating habits of course.

    7. Enjoy!

NOTE: my apologies for the formatting of bindings above... QRZ squishes it all together!

Make sure to occasionally click Apply when making these settings. To save frustration, test the buttons and knobs as you go. If you close the contour app, remember to select "RemoteCtrl" in the application settings drop down box before continuing!

Let me know if this works out for you!!!!

This is great, thanks! I’ve been wanting a way to lose the mouse when I’m remote and have a tuner knob but didn’t know there was a way to do it.
