There was an initial surge of hiker 'mountain topping' back in the early 70's, with the advent of 2M FM and 'hand held' transceivers. I climbed Mt Washington in 1972 with a Drake TR-22... (only to find dogs and guys in Hawaiian shirts at the top , from transportation with the cog railway) The advent of very small HF transceivers is what re-kindled interest in the last 15 years. Fun AND healthy!
Steves signal always seems to get out, no matter what he is running. He is a great guy, and an inspiration for many of us.
Steve is a great guy to operate with. I really miss his company on our former mini-DXpeditions together. All the best to you Steve. Dan WZ1P
