    HGB:

    More like a "freebander" on the telephone with an FCC engineer:

    "Freebander": "Some damn ham operator was interfering with my transmissions."

    FCC engineer: "On what frequency were you operating?"

    "Freebander": "28.125 MHz".

    FCC engineer: "Let's see. You know, a fine of up to $11,000.00 per day can be levied for operating, unlicensed, on that frequency."

    "Freebander": "You know, I was mistaken about the frequency. I was using my 4-watt output transceiver on CB Channel 23. Gotta go, my wife is calling me."

    There is no such thing as a four finger lid anymore,,,,, so this example does not account for the sudden increase, however there are more lids on the air than ever. I dont know if your lids are actually accountable for this sudden increase but certainly many a lids behavior can be influenced by the spirits, even during the days of prohibition.
    I would say that the better, sharp, more conscientious operator is going to be smarter and refrain from partaking while on the air. Not that it is such a bad thing or a wrong bad thing, It is just better to enjoy such things in a better social setting where others can share in the same experience, as well as show respect for those who do not.
    Ham radio is best kept reserved and moderately conservative if that at all makes sense? I myself prefer to make sense and will refrain from being too stoopid on the radidio.

    This is what I love about this hobby. There's always something to complain about.

    I know they aren't CW operators. Likely CB'ers or some lids from another galaxy. Get it....galaxy....see what uh did there?

    Nothing.
    I received an FCC operational briefing within the last month. They are strapped...
    Believe me, the FCC won't help you.
