    Hello all outthere,
at the moment I´m using a 2x 27m angle (90°) dipole feedpoint about 17m up
on a 10m alumminum tube tower on the top of my roof...
I also like to use a CW like the one of radio works but homebrewed...
no my question...because of the vertical section RG...8 or equivalent
I would lke to know, wether its critical to use it at my alu-tube-tower
and if yes, how far, should be the distance between tower an vert.section???

the next I would like to know is...
the different between titan and challenger...
both are jokes on 80m for sure...but which kind is the better one for 80m???

tnx so much for any answers

    Hello Uwe,

Just don't take down the dipole, not for a Windom.
A windom for 80m is a very poor antenna on 40m.
It's radiation pattern shows four lobes with very deep nulls.

And I did not get the SWR right, not with the conventional version (feedpoint 33% off one end) nore with the Carolina version.
Much more noisy on reception (not balanced!) than a balanced dipole.

Just get a good tuner, and your dipole (doublet) will suit you well on all bands! You could even make it shorter if that's more convenient.

    Check out my 2x 9m doublet for 80,40,and 20m: http://members.chello.nl/~w.hofman/pa8w/smalldipoles.htm

    Tnx forb your reply Wil,
but let me tell you...last year at the same time I have had much time and use it
    to get some different antennas up...so I had up a 85m loop a 20 m angle dipole
a caroline windom ( short one like radio works ) and the windom was a good choice...works well from 80-10 but not 160...I just can work on 10,15,80 and 160...so 20,40 and the rest isnt important u know...for example, the 85m loop was not better than the windom...at least here at my location...but would like to work 160 sometimes so I go back to the 2x27m angle dipole which have no problems on this band...ok, once again tnx for your message...maybe soon on 80
