I am new to the forum, so forgive me if I am stumbling around. In order to get started with WSJX on my IC-705, I understand the first thing is to install the USB Driver on my Mac. I tried to install the Silicon Labs driver on my Mac which is using system OS 11. Could not get the system preferences (security and privacy) to allow the installation. Then I found this message on the Silicon Labs website saying their driver does not work with OS 11
    https://www.silabs.com/community/interface/forum.topic.html/vcp_driver_for_macosbigsur110x-SWJK
Do I have a problem or is this the state of thing at present?

No need to install a driver for the IC-705! Catalina and Big Sur have the required drivers built in. (Also for other Icoms, Yaesu may be different.)
Unplug the trx, use the Uninstaller in the SiLabs driver package to remove it and reboot your Mac.

How exactly do you run the installer, Tom. I see a file called uninstaller.sh. When I open it up I see this:
    #!/bin/bash

    if [ -d /System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext ]; then
    sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext
    fi

    if [ -d /System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver64.kext ]; then
    sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver64.kext
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver64.kext
    fi

    if [ -d /Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriverYos.kext ]; then
    sudo kextunload /Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriverYos.kext
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriverYos.kext
    fi

    if [ -d /Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext ]; then
    sudo kextunload /Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/SiLabsUSBDriver.kext
    fi

Do I paste all of that into a Terminal prompt?

My suggestion is to uninstall all the SiLabs stuff, since it is not required for Icom.

For radios such as the FT-991A, that require the SI Labs CP2105 driver in Bg Sur. The support site now indicate that an updated driver has been released.
This is the note posted on their support site.

Update (22/Dec/2020): We would like to update that our VCP driver which support macOS Big Sur is already published. You can find and download it from our website or from link below:
    https://www.silabs.com/documents/public/software/Mac_OSX_VCP_Driver.zip

I installed it today and now can control my FT-991A once again.

Did you try it with the SI Labs driver un-installed?
Apple recommended USB-serial drivers are already built into Catalina and Big Sur.
Your Mac and your radio will likely work more reliably without the 3rd party driver.

I seem to recall that some of the Yaesu rigs use a slightly different version of the SILabs chipset which is not supported by Big Sur's built-in driver.

Sure, but you should test first to find out if your rig is one of those aledgedly slightly different ones, or one where you don't need to install anything, and it just works.
