This past weekend (10/21-22)the Pioneer Valley Council BSA held its fall camporee. The theme for this event was communication around the world and was held in conjuction with JOTA (jamboree on the air).

The camporee took place at the Horace Moses Scout reservation in Russell MA. KX1X (John Pise) co-ordinated the event that was attened by well over one hundred Scouts and Scouters. KX1X should be congratulated for all of the effort he put into making this event a major success.

Events during the day included several stations set up to allow all the scouts to make contacts around the world, accross the USA and right in their own back yard. Scouts came from upstate NY as well as CT to attend the camporee. There was even a vist from the Army Special Forces who demonstrated their special field communication equipment. Testing was provided for those who thought they were ready and one scout passed his technicians exam. Several other scouts have indicated they are more than interested in obtaining their license because of the camporee.

Again, Congratulations to Mr.Pise for introducing so many of us to the world of amateur radio and for all of his hard work!
