Said list is probably updated exclusively at each public "servant", politician or authority newly imported rig.

Sounds like they just don't want radio operators in country.

Guess the 40 meter tuna can is out of the question too!
Sad for the amateur community there. Must have neighbor issues.....This is what ARRL CQ and other organizations need to get busy on.

I assume the Cambodian authorities would respond to greasing their palm somehow. Those southeast Asian countries usually do.

You have to understand that over the last 80 years, Thailand has had a series of military governments with a monarch as head of state. There is a deeply entrenched system of bureaucracy that is not what we would call "progressive" or efficiency minded. Basically the list is simply old, but it's in place, so the current bureaucrats simply follow it. There is a system in place to add to it, but it's cumbersome. The fact that it's needlessly cumbersome does not really concern those who administer... They're just going by the book... This is a society that still worships carbon paper and rubber stamps. It's all part of a distinctly "retro" bureaucratic culture.

It's not because they don't like hams. It's because that's just "how they roll".

Cambodia Update. At a meeting with the TRC Tech last week, they confirmed that they will accept the Yaesu FT-891 Conformity docs we have passed to them for a Type Approval application. This was great news. We now have to go through the TA process for the 891 which has been quoted at $2000. Once the 891 has a Cambodian TA we can then go through the Approved importers. Big thank you to all the kind Hams who helped with docs for the 891, greatly appreciated. We hope to be able to renew our Licences sometime soon and visiting hams be able to operate here again. 73 Dave

Isn't great that something totally unconciliable is being resolved in a win-win situation!

In little time, all things considered, all parties involved helped a tricky processus being in tracks.

Really, thread is the most hopeful story I've read on QRZ for years.
Keep us posted, can't wait to see (not able to copy you) you're on the air!

Cambodia is more friendly than Brazil, where Kafkaian situations keep us stuck for years.
Nobody to help us from abroad, Anatel and Labre being the sole autocratic authorities in charge.
No way to get a human person in front of you here.
Kafkaian bureaucracy is doubled, in Brazil, by disfonctionning all-online-only stuff.

In Brazil A-R is losing as idiocy prevails at each single level.

    Hear me?

You don't know who we are? There is no sin in questioning what is right or wrong. Open communication is fundamental to a society that is a free democracy. Now go find out what else is wrong with Cambodia and it's Oligarch "President". I believe you will find this interesting and then you will hopefully know who we are.

Yes I do really believe that. I live in Lowell, MA which has the second largest Cambodian population in the USA. I have many friends who are Cambodian. They do speak out and often are punished for their words. We should support them, not distrust documented and factual news.

Most indubitably! Open communication worldwide is what amateur radio is about. Penalizing the citizens for what their government is/is not doing creates unnecessary division.

    Thanks for the excellent comment.

We as in the United States. Who are WE to be dictating what should happen in another country. It is up to their own people do what they need to be done. Why is it always up to us to go around policing the world. We have enough problems here that are not being adequately addressed. Let Cambodia be Cambodia and lets solve our own problems. If they want democracy and open speech among all then they'll have do obtain it for themselves.

We must remember that when American ideals are not able to prevail, other kind of «ideals» make their way, e.g. sowiets ones, pol-pot, and so on...

    Asia is not Europa.
First, hegemonic China is close. Evil China is even closer to Afrika than Europa or the Americas together.
